Used to treat:

General Directions for Taking Medication:
Take only as directed. DO NOT change dose or stop taking this medication without talking to your doctor first.
If you miss a dose, take the medicine as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, take only 1 dose. DO NOT double up the doses.
You may take this medicine with or without food.
Talk to your doctor about an exercise program to help strengthen your bones and joints.
Apply sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or greater), wear protective clothing, and avoid excessive sunlight exposure. This medication may increase your sensitivity to sunlight.
Talk to your doctor about the need to wear a medical alert pendant or bracelet. There are many products that provide information to health care providers about your medicines and specific condition in case of an emergency.
See your doctor regularly to monitor the effectiveness of this medication with lab tests, x-rays, and a physical exam.
Contraindications:
Allergies - Hypersensitivity to this medication, its components, sulfa-based drugs, aspirin, or other NSAIDs
Patients who have experienced an allergic reaction (asthma, hives, rash, itching) after taking NSAIDs or aspirin
Children less than 18 years of age
Use with caution in:
Pregnancy and Breast Feeding - May not be safe for your baby. Talk to your doctor about risks and benefits.
Patients with liver or kidney disease; a history of alcoholism; heart disease, high blood pressure, heart failure, and clotting disorders; gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcer disease; dehydration or edema (fluid retention); asthma or nasal polyps
Patients taking oral steroids, anticoagulants, and chronic NSAIDs therapy
Elderly patients - May need lowest dose necessary to control symptoms.
Common Side Effects:
May occur during the first few days after beginning therapy, but usually resolve:
Nausea, abdominal pain, cramping, indigestion, bloating, dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, difficulty sleeping, nasal congestion, or back pain
Serious Side Effects:
Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following:
Respiratory tract infections; sore throat; inflammation of legs and arms; skin rash; excessive tiredness, jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyeballs), blurred vision, and unexplained weight gain; right upper quadrant abdominal pain; sudden, severe dizziness, black or tarry stools, blood in stools and vomiting blood; and an increased risk for injury
Allergic reaction symptoms such as a red skin rash; itching; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat; wheezing; chest pain; and difficulty breathing
Interactions:
Drug - There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, which will alter the action of this medication. Some include high blood pressure medicines called ACE inhibitors, psychiatric medications like Lithium, large doses of aspirin, anti-fungals, and diuretics (water pills).
It is extremely important that you consult with your doctor about dosing schedules if you take a variety of medications along with this medication. DO NOT take any new medication without talking with your doctor first.
Warnings:
Overdose - Can lead to worsening of side effects and symptoms.
Gastrointestinal bleeding can develop quickly and at times without obvious symptoms. Pay special attention to your symptoms and report anything unusual to your doctor immediately.
DO NOT drive or operate machinery when taking this medication until you know the extent of dizziness and drowsiness side effects.
DO NOT take other NSAIDs or aspirin without talking to your doctor first. May increase the risk of developing ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding.
DO NOT drink alcoholic beverages while taking this medicine. May worsen side effects.
Keep this medication and all others out of reach of children and pets.
